Nokia Asha series smartphones are the budget phones with good features such as touch screen, internet connectivity and Nokia proprietary apps and many more. The most recent device from Asha series is Asha 501 which runs on Asha platform. As we are already aware, we can use Android smartphones as a modem to connect to internet. Luckily, even Asha series smartphones are also can be used as modem to connect to internet from your PC or laptop.
Nokia provides connectivity cable driver through which you can you can use your Nokia Asha phones as modem to to connect to internet from your computer. This is tested on Nokia Asha 501 and works fine. The below mentioned steps are for the Asha 501. Using Nokia Asha 501 As a Modem to connect to internet from Computer
Step1: Download Nokia Cable driver for Nokia Asha Mobiles from clicking here. It is 6MB in size. Install the setup file which you have downloaded.
Step 2: As said earlier, enable data connectivity on your phone. Connect the Asha phone to PC via USB cable.
Step 3: On your phone, you get four options. USB mode, Charging only, Modem, Mass storage. Select the Modem option.
Step 4: In your computer, go to Control panel->Network and Internet->Network and Sharing center.
Step 5: Now click on set up a new network connection. You get a new pop up menu. Select Set up a dial-up connection. Click next.
Step 6: The new screen select Nokia USB modem
Step 7: Create a dial up connection page open as shown below.
Step 8: Enter *99# in the Dial-up phone number field. Leave blank on username and password. Enter the connection name according to your choice. Click connect.
Step 9: Wait for a minute for completion of the setup. You are done. You are connected to the internet from your PC/laptop.
Step 10: Once done, remember to disconnect the connection to avoid unnecessary data charges.
