There are many new features added to the current WhatsApp service such as broadcast list, allows users to send a message to a group of friends at once; brings overhauled interface for managing blocked contacts; larger thumbnails view; crop image feature before sending; new notifications alerts and sounds, and the default use of device’s text size.
Like it is available on other platforms, WhatsApp is offered for free download for the first year and then $0.99 every year. Recently, Whatsapp iPhone app received update which added few new features which includes iCloud chat history backup, restore functionality and sending multiple images at the same time. With the iCloud support, now user can save their messages history, directly to the iCloud, Apple’s cloud service. Whatsapp also changed the monetization model for the service on iPhone with that update.
Recently, Whatsapp is said to reached 300 million worldwide active user base and 20 million active users in India alone. It also launched push to talk voice messaging in the app on the all the mobile OS platforms which includes Android, Windows Mobile OS, Series 40 and Symbian, Blackberry and iOS.
